Welcome to Szklarska Poręba!

Szklarska Poreba Attractions

Mountain rages and peaks

Karkonosze: The biggest attractions of Szklarkska Poreba without a doubt are the mountains and their surroundings. Karkonosze are part of the larger Sudeten range. The mountains are notable for their hiking trails, resorts, and ski slopes. They have been attracting many tourists for years. The highest peak is Sniezka (Snow White), which also gave the nick name of "Giant Mountains" to Karkonosze.

Izery Mountains: Izery Mountains are the most western mountain range in Poland. Part of the Main Sudeten Trail (in Polish often called GSS) leads through the area. Wysoki Kamien (High Stone) is a peak rising above the town and it is a perfect spot to admire one of the most beautiful panoramas in the region. These mountains are an ideal skiing destination.

Szrenica: The peak looking over the town, accessible by a chair lift "Szrenica", with a mountain hostel with the same name on top. Even though Szrenica is not a high mountain, the conditions here are similar to those in the Alps; therefore a modern skiing resort "Ski Arena Szrenica" has been built.

Krzywe Baszty (Crooked Towers) : This rock formation is located on the bank of Kamienna River and consists of a granite group of rocks 18 meters high. It is a must see tourist attraction in the area.

Chybotek: One of the main tourist attractions of Szklarska Poreba. It is a few meters high group of rocks, with a top rock 4 meters in diameter that can be wobbled easily. There are numerous stories and tales about the Ghost of the Mountains connected to this place. According to old legends the rocks were hiding the entrance to an underground vault.

Waterfalls

Szklarski: A waterfall located in the boundaries of the Karkonoski National Park. It is picturesquely situated in a gorge, forming a cascade falling down from the attitude of 13 meters and narrowing at the bottom. There is a hostel “Kochanówka” nearby.

Kamieńczyka: The highest waterfall in the Sudeten Mountains. The waterfall comes down forming a cascade, 27 meter high into a stunning gorge of Kamienczyk. The gorge is about 100 meters long and 25 meters high while the width in some parts does not exceed 4 meters. It is a frequently visited tourist attraction.
